Trip to Nogales

Please join Professors Carol Brochin and Sandra Soto for a community arts-based day trip to Nogales, Arizona on April 20, 2024, planned in conjunction with the Spring 2024 graduate seminar, SCCT 510: Borderlands Lab: Pedagogy, Poetics and Practice. This free event is sponsored by the Graduate Program in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory and the Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry at the University of Arizona and is open to students, staff, faculty, and community members. Transportation and lunch will be provided. We plan to leave the 2nd Street Parking Garage promptly at 8:00am and return by 6pm. We have 42 seats in UA passenger vans however participants can also carpool. Once you register, we will follow up with an email confirmation and logistical information.  We just ask that you register here no later than Monday, April 15, 2024 as spots are limited! 

 

Tentative Schedule:   

8:00: Leave 2nd Street Garage
9:30-11:30: Walking tour of Murals and border wall led by Priscilla “Nefftys” Rodriguez, hip hop artist and co-founder of
Nogaleria

11:30-12:30: Pimeria Alta Historical Society for a tour of museum and archives 
12:30-1:30: Lunch at Rancho Grande 
1:45-3:00: 2024 Mingus Jazz Festival, 20 April | Event in Nogales | AllEvents.in1st Bank of Yuma, 825 N Grand Ave,Nogales,AZ,United States
3:00: Depart to Tubac 
6:00: Arrive at 2nd Street Garage, Tucson
